Spurred on by Tilly's felted animals and Kirsty Allsop's felting on the TV recently I have had my first go at needlefelting.
I have made this bag to put a small christmas gift in for my niece.
Everything is now packed for moving but will definitely do more once I get settled in as I found it easy and enjoyable.

Superb - well done you.

That is beautiful. Well done. Might have to learn how to do this.

Gosh that's lovely. I know you said easy - but for people with thumbs instead of fingers just how easy is easy? ;D
-
That's lovely ;D So - how did you learn?

Well done Sally, I love it the colours are great too, I'm sure your niece will be delighted.

That is lovely, Sally. I am liking this idea... where do we learn?

There is loads of tutorials on youtube but to be honest get some needles old jumpers you have accidently boil washed some pure wool yarn or fibre and just play. The more you stab through the more it felts, you do need either a big sponge or a feltng brush to stop stabbing your leg

Annie, When I said easy I mean really easy. I saw Kirsty Allsop doing a little bit on the telly and then watched her on line and got the bug. You have to buy a punch needle and a brush mat and then away you go. Mine was all made from felt that you buy in a craft shop with a little bit of coloured wooltop that I already had which made the squiggly lines.
As Ellisr has said there are lots of tutorials on line. I want to use the felted wool method next and have been looking for a pure wool jumper in the charity shop that I can boil wash. If its still big enough after the wash for a garment then I will make a little jacket but otherwise I will probably make a bag.
In one of the online tutorials the woman boil washes a jumper and then cuts it right up the front, binding the edges, to make the jacket. It looks lovely. Do give it a try. You will be amazed at what you can do.
