APB
Just had a call from my vet - Freckles is out of the anaesthetic, but is a bit wobbly so getting home about 2pm. Tumour is out, plus the gland behind it as it was trailing back a wee bit. :'( Her broken tooth has been removed - along with a very long root, ::) and she's had a de-scale as well.
Now when do I win the lottery? ::)
Only kidding, ;D
Freckles has turned out to be the most expensive dog I've ever owned, but worth every penny - except when she "won't stop talkin'" [;)] I am so relieved her op is all over. We know there is another little lump but it was too small to warrant taking out and would have been difficult anyway as it's on the other side. Just need to keep an eye on that one.

 :-*

Good news  Glad the op went all Annie and that she's coming round :)

Im so pleased, fingers and toes crossed for a good recovery for Freckles.
Our Dobie is off to the vets on Thurs as his one 'probably ok' lump we just had to keep an eye acc to vet on has grown and he now has a number of other faster growing smaller lumps :-(( not looking forward to Thursday :-(((

Thanks, everyone. Freckles has turned out to be my most expensive dog ever - £2983 to date! And that's without having to buy her - I bred her myself! This latest op was £303! But worth every penny to see her dragging the poor vet nurse off her feet across the surgery floor to get to me! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Glad she's OK!
-
Ouch, expensive but you can't put a price on love and affection. Glad she is on the road to recovery.

Very very glad to hear that good news, Annie.

Good news Annie, hope she does well

Good news indeed :) What we go through for our animals! Not the expense, which is soon forgotten but the stress and anxiety, which isn't!! Last night I was all for giving up all my animals and taking up day-time television, crochet and bingo. Except, of course for Mrs. Potter, my best beloved, oh! and Harry Potter and I couldn't be without......................etc. etc. ;D ;D ;D

A wee amusing update - Just had to laugh at the post op letter -
1. keep Freckles quiet and away from other pets as she'll want to rest
- huh! She pulled Lee, her vet nurse along the floor of the surgery to get to me when I picked her up, tried to jump into the car, tried to play with Bobby, shouted at the other two as she went by. I put her in a cage in the kitchen and she shouted at ME! ::)
2. Offer Freckles a little soft food, her gums may hurt after having a tooth out and she may not be hungry after anaesthetic
- huh! Screamed at me for some lunch - 'YOU didn't feed me this morning, Mum!!! and WHAT is this mushy stuff? OK I'll eat it but get me some proper food as well'. Scoffed the second lot then screamed for her tea 2 hours later. ::)
3. Give Freckles a little exercise on lead tomorrow morning
Huh! Tomorrow morning? That'll be right. She asked to go out in the snow 6 times in the first 7 hours after getting home, and every time i took her out on the lead to do a wee, tried to drag me over into the front paddock to go and relocate the birds in the bushes.
Brittanys! Even MY vet should know better!

;D ;D ;D
Good to hear how well Freckles is doing, Annie!
-
She is NOT happy at being kept in a cage. >:( I tried to put her in the canvas one in the lounge where I will have my lunch in a mo - leapt onto the settee and barked at the postie! Then jumped off and went down on her flatties to play with Bobby! ;D ;D Caught her and put her in the crate where she is now howling! Anyone want a 10 year old Brittany - they usually live to about 16! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( If they are lucky! ;)
-
Not a good patient then but she must be feeling better in herself, just your nerves to worry about. ;D
-
You wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm so glad she has had her op successfully and long may she go on.
-
bless her, best wishes Freckles ... and you too Annie!
-
I own border collies and when Red Dog was spayed she wasn't allowed to do anything..... She bounced off the sofa, walls, got the zoomies round the garden, wanted to play with Pilot, wanted to run up and down the steps etc etc etc...
In the end I had to ask if i could REDUCE the pain killer as she would not stay quiet! When I explained that determined mining efforts from the crate (which she usually adores) wasn't exactly calm and quiet, they agreed.
I felt awful but when she could feel a little pain she did accommodate her behavior to suit.
Honestly is is like trying to stop the tide!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Collies and Brittanys are very similar. ::) Working breeds, both! ;)
I know quite a few agility people who have gone onto Brittanys after losing a collie. Equally as fast, unbelievable turning, only problem is they are classed as Large so have to jump full height. Personally I think the sizes are long overdue for review. Brittanys are from 47 cms (Freckles height) to 51 cms at the shoulder.
Oh, and she isn't on any medication except ABs - oops forgot to give her one at teatime

Just wondered how Freckles is doing now - back to normal life or driving you demented still? I hope you're both more relaxed and rested now??
-
Come round on Friday and you'll see! I am ALWAYS demented by these BritBrats! ;D Even wrote a book on them a number of years ago ::) She ahs settled a little bit. Gets her stitches out next Monday/Tuesday and so far hasn't touched them, good girl
