As part of my own preparation for keeping sheep, I have been purchasing books and studying articles posted on this forum. I also booked myself on a course at South Yeo Farm East, nr Okehampton in Devon. I did the course today and I would like to recommend it to all. It was well worth travelling to Devon from Hampshire, and found the course informative and enjoyable. It was great to see different breeds side by side, and have the chance to handle, trim and dag under the expert eye of our teacher.
We were taken through the legislation, diseases, and good practise and I cannot believe how much I learnt despite my previous research. If like me, you are considering sheep, I urge you to do the course- I can't wait to get my own flock!
I have read sheep are addictive, and now I know I have a habit!

Its true, they are addictive! If you can find an experienced farmer or person to talk things over with, or show you stuff it wil make things a lot easier. I have been been sheep keeping for just over a year now, and its fascinating, and they taste good too! :yum:
