Title: 1000's of Apples in the Orchard
Post by: OhLaLa on November 03, 2011, 09:51:14 am
There are 1000's upon 1000's of windfall apples in the Orchard, can any experienced shepherds out there let us know their experience/info re feeding sheep apples. We haven't put the sheep in the Orchard (but the deer are enjoying helping themselves).

Maybe you should advertise them on your local group freecycle website - there must be someone near you making cider or with piggies  :pig: :D :D

Aha - at last, something I feel able to comment on!  Our sheep are often in our orchard (and even more often in next doors garden but that's another issue) and there are enough apples to virtually carpet it.  We've not had a choice but to leave them in there sometimes and they do eat the apples - I have to say they can end up looking a bit round and gassy, but that's never come to any more of an issue.
