Hello,
I am sending this out as a plea for help.
We had organised to get all our hay for the winter from a local farmer. we have found out today that this is no longer possible as the bales left for us are completely rotten.
We are now in a state of desperation as we only have enough hay to last us a maximum of a week. Please please please if you know of any hay in small bales that are located anywhere near NG20 0SH then please do let me know. Even if they are located on the other side of the world, if we can arrange transport for them, then we will. WE JUST NEED HAY!
thank you for taking the time to read this.

Is north Dorset too far to travel, I may be able to get hold of some. What price are you looking to pay?
-
I'm a bit nearer in Telford and could ask my supplier. Do you want small or large bales?
-
Small please. As most of the time it's only me lugging the things around!
Thank you!

We are on West/North Yorkshire border and have 200 bales for sale @ £5 if that's not too far for you? PM me if you want more info.

there's a supplier here in suffolk selling decent hay at £4/ bale but that's about 3 1/2 hrs away from you.

A last resort - but have you tried looking on ebay? Normally quite a few sellers advertising there.
Not sure what the price is this year, some folks are saying it's high, but the cut seems to have been really good this year (we didn't even need to do all our fields).

Also have a look at the website/newspaper ads/phone up the local agricultural auctioneer - often at this time of year they run forage auctions once a week or once a fortnight. While mostly these are for large numbers of big bales, there are sometimes small bales and also the people selling will be good people to contact to find out who locally would have some small bales. Also worth trying hay dealers eg there are two in our region. Usually they big bale and then rebale into small bales as people order. Quality may be 95% of what small bales would be but normally fine.

Sorry I can't help and don't want to hijack your thread but we've just been let down by our supplier too so if anyone knows of hay near Forfar I would be grateful x

Local to us (Norfolk) and excellent to deal with.

Hi Melodrama, I once bought hay from a farm on the outskirts of Forfar. I can't remember the farmer's name or the name of the farm but I remember it was on the Glamis / Meigle road and it was the first farm on the left up on the hill just after leaving the roundabout at Forfar. He sold small square hay and straw bales.
Hope this is a help.
