Title: ex forces - council change rules to asist ex forces
Post by: nicandem on October 19, 2011, 11:30:36 am
If any of you are ex forces, its worth checking what your local council have to offer.
most are now changing their rules so that if you were a resident in an area before you went into the army, your time in also counts as residency (rather than starting from zero again)
Also a number are doing various schemes such as free gym membership for council run gyms, for either ex forces or serving and on leave
contact your local council for info

That was always the case since jusfter WW2 , I registered for six years renewing the registration evey six months by recorded delivery .

I came out HMF in Dec 1980 having served my last seven years abroad and got told " council housing is for local people and the Peterborough new town housing is for incommers with a job to go to you don't have a job go away.

Five months of living as four ( one which was a new baby ) in a double bed room .
i was offered a three bed house from which the previous occuants had been evicted and left in a real state including dog muck ( ?) all over the floors .
I was told take it or leave it we have met our obligation .
i was still trying to come to terms with a 78 % disabled left shoulder and could not clean it up .

That was the labour party policy in the town hall at the  time will it be any different this time round ???
