Title: RAM wanted in Dorset (Loan or Borrow?)
Post by: ramblerskitchen on October 16, 2011, 01:57:09 pm
Hi   Cheeky question really but does anyone have a ram that they would be able to loan or hire near to Dorset.   I currently have a very small flock of 8 sheep, 5 will be going off very soon, but I am keeping 3 of them ( Texel and Suffolks) to breed from.  (These were all orphan lambs born in Feb)  I don't want to buy a Ram as I will then be stuck next year if I decide to keep one of his off spring to breed from again.

Any ideas?

Thanks Sarah

To be honest am very new to keeping sheep so I am not sure.  They are all very well grown and I do have a friend who is a sheep farmer and will get her to have a look for me and tell me her thoughts.

Hazelwood Flock, I am at Winterborne Kingston, Between Blandford and Bere Regis.

I know some people do, but I tend not to put lambs to the tup. I might make an exception if they were really well grown.

I have a nice well grown shetland ram lamb that was due to go to the freezer but you can have him for £30 if you want to collect? I keep Ouessants so he is no use to me!

i would very much, but to be honest i doubt i will be able to sort things here to keep him away from my ewe lambs AND get him a wether friend before you want to send him off.
mind you my lambies are getting so fat and are nearly full size, maybe it wouldn't be so bad for them to be tupped this year ??? ;D ;D
let me see what i can do over the weekend ;)
