Did you find a recipe? I've just been left with a watermelon and nothing to do with it!

No, I just recall the song "Old Dogs and Children and Water Melon Wine." Got the first two, need the third :) :)

There's one on wikihow, but I've not tried it.
Think I might have to though  :yum:

Will see if I can give it a go today, that watermelon is bugging me rolling around the kitchen work surface. Any idea how to get the juice without the pulp. Straining bag?

I'd blitz it in a blender and put it through a sieve  ;)  You can always properly strain it again before bottling

My OH has just made spring oak leaf wine which has banana and watermelon in it - it smells fab, will ask him for recipe if you like but think he got it off the net.  First time on this particular flavour.

I always used black bananas for "body" in a lot of my wines. Oak leaf, watermelon and banana sounds lovely :yum:

Yes it doesn't smell as tropical as it sounds - just really fresh and appealing - will let you know what recipe he uses when he comes in, think it was from the Cairn O'Mhor website (may have spelt that wrong).

Have a wee tester when your racking it, or a couple of wee testers just to make sure... :D

So did anyone have any luck with this?

I've been stopping a few demijohns that I had neglected over the last few months, including the watermelon. Ours wasn't good for anything but the drain :-(

OHs spring oakleaf with watermelon in it as an ingrediant has turned out fine - not my favourite of the ones he makes but drinkable all the same.
