Title: My goat has a limp
Post by: goatlover on October 08, 2011, 09:33:47 am
I have noticed that my year old goat has a limp, we frequently take her and her sister for a walk down to the bottom field (to eat some lovely weeds  :yum: ) which is when i noticed the bit of a limp.  ???

I have checked her feet and they seem fine (infact trimmed them up when she first started limping), no signs of any swelling and she can still run when she wants to, she eating fine and seems very bright - so dont think she in any pain.

It just upsets me to see her walking and her head bobbing a bit as she limps on front leg - I wondered if she sprained it (we have a trailer at the bottom of yard and they love jumping onto it). How long does a sprain take to heal?

Should i be concerned? Thanks everyone

if her feet are fine then its probably is a sprain.
try to disuade her from too much runnig about, if she'll let you then you could strap it up but if its mild then its better to let it heal without - goats can get problems with shortened tendons if they are not able to walk normally.

our girl has sprained her back foot (too much racing about and slipped) but touch wood, she has made a good recovery,

hope yours does to  :)
