Post by: manian on October 08, 2011, 07:59:42 am
i think the birds are plotting againt me.......
we have been nurturing the 2....... yes 2 apples on my apple tree this year.
I got home today and saw one by the bench which had peck holes in it. >:( I moaned at hubby for letting the chickens get it and then i noticed we weren't in with them so it must have been one of the wild ones.......(sorry chicks and OH :-*)
I then went to the tree to get the remaining one (for me...... :yum:) and  :o it had peck hole in it as well :(

oh well the  :chook: :chook: :chook: :chook: got them after all

better luck next time

Same here - we went to pick the crop from my favourite Blenheim Orange apple tree  :yum: :apple: only to find that most fruits were nothing but half a hollow shell with the insides pecked out and even the rescuable ones have peck holes in.  Grrrr indeed  :(

Blackbirds will peck at apples and wasps will move in where they've been pecked. Plastic bags with v. small holes poked in and tied over the fruit will save them next year.
