Title: Buying GOS & Tamworths
Post by: Growy16 on September 24, 2011, 12:44:01 pm
We are considering purchasing two Tamworths and two GOSs.  Are there any breeders or suppliers near us?  We live in Collingham in North Notts very close to the Lincs border.  Would the two breeds cohabit in both grazing and living quarters or would they need to be kept apart?  We have a large stable block of which I intend to use one or maybe two stalls for the porkers.

This is the link to the Tamworth Breeders' directory, you may find a breeder near you

http://www.tamworthbreedersclub.me.uk/?page_id=165 (http://www.tamworthbreedersclub.me.uk/?page_id=165)

They should settle quite quickly and happily live together after some intial pushing and shoving once a hierachy is sorted.

The GOS breeders website is

www.oldspots.org (http://www.oldspots.org)

There is a list of breeders on there, also a forum showing ads For Sale, Wanted and For Hire.

The existing Tamworth Breeders' Club website doesn't include a full breeders' directory, but the one which is currently under development will. In the meantime, your best bet is dropping an email to the club secretary for details: [email protected]
We're hoping the new site will be on line very soon, and we are waiting for the techy people to do the switchover, so please bear with us! Thanks for your interest in the breed. You won't be disappointed.

Having kept GOS for some time now they are a very laid back breed of pig, never kept Tamworths so don't know about there temperament, GOS's usually get bossed about because they are so chilled out and lovely, they should all be fine in together.
