about Hurricane Katia. Blowing a gale here - not cold but really windy. What's it like elsewhere?

Wet windy but warm...ish!!! and very invigorating, I have red cheeks. ::)
THink the wind will pick up tonight, its only bending trees a bit here at the mo and the cock's not spinning around yet ::) ::) (the one on the Toll booth)

Same as here really, a few trees down :-\ (not ours luckily) and the winds roaring down our chimney, but as you said Rosemary it's not cold really!
From inside the house the wind in the trees sounds like the sea crashing against rocks, quite nice really :)
Hoping it all finishes soon though!

Really wierd up here in Skye. All the locals gave dire warnings about what was to come, but so far nothing much, and not even any heavy rain. I was really looking forward to a decent storm too, since we're right by the coast!!

Same here in Shetland, just another dreary day. Supposed to hit tonight but nothing yet.

Nothing on the Isle of Lewis. Heavy rain this morning but quite a nice afternoon with even a bit of sun. Just a light North easterly wind.

Pretty windy here, kind of wishing the stonemasons had removed the scaffold and ladders from the roof - we did ring him but he said he thought they would be fine....hope he's right :-( couldnt get them down myself as they are tied at the top of the roof!

Its been windy for the last few days here, but a very warm wind, very strange really. This morning the wind really picked up. I kept looking through the window at work, and wondering if the stable roof had left its moornings again - its landed on the garage roof of the barn conversion over the lane, twice!! Also worried the chicks huts and the bantie shed had taken flight too. Virtually flew out of work when I finished at lunch time. Thankfully no serious damage, just a giant ash branch down in the road - but I went and got all the branches for the goats. Bantam shed roof had come off, so had to struggle with that on my own, and then put big stones on top to hold it down.
Still windy tonght, some of the gusts are really strong. Lyme Park, the stately home and grounds down the road from us has been closed today, as they were worried about trees falling on people in the park. There again, I was worried about trees falling on me - they were doing some swaying and creaking!!
Fingers crossed the winds die down overnight.

I had a day off work yesterday and spent most of it cutting up fallen braches and trees, also cutting down half fallen trees to make the fields safe for the sheep and horse.
Hummed and harred about bringing the horse in but worried that the stable roof may come off. Chicken houses are up ended and roofs smashed (luckly empty ones) and all my hard work cutting and pruning remains spread everywhere around the field entrance. A couple of sheep cast don't know if that was the wind or the over zealous ram
Today it is calmer with some heavy rain and welcome sunshine

Still nothing here, just a slight breeze and drizzly. Good job really my daughter and OH are flying to Glasgow , hope its ok in Glasgow for landing!

We are about 10 miles from the Manchester airport, and the planes circle round our farm forming a queue when its a busy time - I often marvel at how they are so organised as they fly round and round. Yesterday was no exception, and they kept on coming throughtout the galeforce winds.
Still very windy today, but thankfully nowhere near as bad as it was. And its a cold wind, not the nice warm one we had. I was stripping layers of clothing off yesterday even in the gales as it was like a tropical heat.

It's been pretty windy here in Pickering area. Hubby has been working with the neighbouring farmer to clear the lane of fallen trees so we can get in and out :o
As others have said, the wind is much colder today. Whilst the worst seems to be over, it's still pretty blowy!
:)

It's been pretty windy here in Worcs as well. Yesterday I was coming out of No1 chicken house and a gust of wind grabbed the door and slammed it back onto my head. I saw stars for a moment or two and felt sorry for myself but the chickens weren't sympathetic so I picked myself up and got on with the feeding. It's not as bad today but still windy but colder, as has been said!

We have had a couple of lovely sunny but blustery days here in West Wales. We are right on the coast and get much less rain and more sun than a lot of West Wales. Being on the Gulf stream helps alot with the warm mild weather. Some years we never even get a frost. Must admit the last 2 years we have had. We even had our first snow for 20 years the last 2 years. :D

We seem to have missed all the gales up here in the far northwest but the rain has been a pain. 20mm today and the piggy paddock looks like an explosion at the chocolate pudding factory. The boys are not impressed.
The girls decided they were having none of this 'weather' stuff and didn't come out of their house until lunchtime.
