I am ;D ;D ;D
It was supposed to be a child and pig free jaunt with no responsibilities (just so I could have a wee night on the sauce ;) and enjoy the social side, it will be almost my birthday after all) but I've been roped into pig showing (yes, you know who you are ;) :-*) so will be staying fairly sensible over the 2 days ::) But those of you who know me know that even sober I'm not that sensible :o
So stop by and say Hi if you're coming - I'll be near the pigs ;D
Karen

We should be there too! I have never been before, so no idea what the showground is like or how it is laid out.

Me neither Beth, but I'm sure I'll manage to find the goats so hopefully see you there

I'm getting a lift down with Lillian & Robert, leaving here around 10.30am so should be (hopefully) all sorted by the time you arrive. I'll pm you my mobile number Beth and we can maybe meet up for a 'wee swally' if you're in the mood ;)

It's a big agricultural show down in Cumbria - LOADS to see and do and although I've never been before I've been told it's great ;D Fingers crossed it's not too cold or too wet ;) Here's a link to the website http://www.westmorlandshow.co.uk/ (http://www.westmorlandshow.co.uk/)

what and where is the westmorland show
County Show, Westmorland ;)
Westmorland being one of the two counties (the other was Cumberland) stuck together to make Cumbria.
It's held at the show site at Crooklands, just off J36 of M6
-
We're going :)
We've got 5 Tamworths entered and 2 Hampshires.
It's a really nice show, looking forward to it.

-
Oh well I'm sure the sheepdog trials will be great fun. Robert and Lillian, what are you doing about movement forms? The show sent two DEFRA forms, but to my mind shouldn't we fill in our own Scottish one for going there and only an English one for coming back?

Not long home all safe and sound. Hate driving back in the dark though. Really enjoyed the show, some entertaining scenes on Wednesday evening and Lillian was taking photographic evidence!
Good to meet you Jodie!

Did the weather stay good? Its rained here all week, and today was no exception.
Always wanted to take my ponies to this show seeing as its in Fell and Dales territory, but the mountain and moorland classes are very early (8am I think). Good two hours drive for me from here, so no way can I feed all the goats, milk some, sort out the other animals and be there for that time of morning!!
But, we are looking to move further North, now the farm is moving towards a sale, so we may be better placed for this show, come next year!!
-
a good nights sleep in our own bed and yes it did rain before during and after the show although the further north we came the better the weather
well we did say we were going to party at the show to bad the lightweight goat people did not contniue after last orders(that is if you were buying drink in the bar
lisa was second in her class we had first hampshire boar(jan) first hampshire gilt(jan) first in pairs class hampshire second in mixed class with allice the tammie and breed champion
the hampshire sheep fifth in the tup lamb class and fifth in the pairs class and the judging was finnished before the stair rods came down
a very good day the appeal of showing is spreading and yes the photos are there the sair heids are now forgotten about
-
Well done - good result!! Shame about the goat keepers not keepng up with the drinking. This one would have done, had she been there ;D
Someone was telling me, she arrived at 8am at the show and her wagon had to be towed on. Such a shame when the weather spoils a Show like this, but hopefully the public still turned up, and profits will not be too bad.
-
What! The goat keepers not keeping up! The goatkeepers were the last people to be evacuated from the bar- unlike the pig people. Perhaps if the pig people had told the goat people they were leaving to continue the party we might have come with you!
It was very wet and muddy Roxy, but amazingly the public did seem to turn up. I was shocked at how many busloads of people kept getting dropped off beside the goat tent. It was a lovely show, lots to see- too much to see if anything, I definitely didn't make it round everything. I did find the "smallholder kind of supplies" stand though, much to my mother's pleasure, as I was able to replenish her syringe and needle supply!
-
the bar was shut so no more drink we just reconvened at the pig tent just a short hillclimb to our beds still have not seen the show and that is two years now the best time is the night before to see all the animals and the preparations :farmer:
