We have a large barn that we've been patching up and repairing. Our ideal would be to section it off into 2 separate areas and keep poultry in one half and pigs in the other. My chooks free range all day and the pigs would be kept in a large fenced area directly outside/with access to the barn during the day time, so it's just overnight that they'd be inside together. Is there any reason that they couldn't be kept in close proximity to each other? :) :pig: :chook:

there is only one way to know and that is try it pigs can eat poultry esp if they are hungry what you have outlined is ideal for the pigs :farmer:

Should be no problem.
If the pig's barn area is too large, they will make a bed in a corner, and then when they wake leave their bed, and then pee and poo, still inside your building. If you make the pigs indoor area small, they will then just treat it as bed, and pee and poo outside where you won't have to clean up after them!
Pigs will eat a chicken if they get hold of it, but as chickens scatter and outmanourvre pigs, pigs don't chase them so this is only a problem for an ill chicken, or one that decides to sleep with the pigs!
