Title: Wanted pedigree large black and gos females for breeding

Hiya.
Does anyone have weaners or gilts - or expecting piglets that match above description?
I eventually want a pedigree large black sow and a pedigree gos sow. The GOS sow preferably not Patrick line as my boar is Patrick line. But please get in touch - especially if you understand the way the breeding works! - to see if yours would be suitable for our boy (eventually)
I'm not in a big rush for them but want to get rid of one of my cross sows - and will have weaners to sell soon, so looking at reinvesting as it were.
Also - we will travel for them, but obviously the closer the better. Also if I can find a large black and a GOS close together that will help too.
Does everyone think they'd be happy to be company for one another of I get them young enough?

Hiya,
They'll be fine together, maybe have a few settling in problems with the pecking order and stuff, but it'll settle down quick and if they're young it won't be that serious compared to larger pigs.
I'll have pedigree Large Blacks next Spring..... but suspect Scotland might not be local enough  ;)
The Large Black breeders club website will give you details of pig breeders in your area as will the GOS site.

"- especially if you understand the way the breeding works!"  Leri i suspect you have been looking at the Cyclic breeding charts, don't go there as its really a specialised way of breeding which was introduced when the gene pool for GOS was very limited, Only the more expirienced GOS keepers really go for it.  You can breed the regualr way just like i do which means you can breed any boar with any line of sow so long as they're not related. So if your girls did have a Patrick dad you could still breed with her from another Patrick so long as he wasn't related, you can look up pedigrees on BPA website. My girls are Princess & Dollies so their female  offspring is the same as their mum our boar is a Gerald so his son's are geralds, this is the easiest way to breed.
