Title: vaccinations for new chicks ??
Post by: CarolW on August 17, 2011, 09:07:57 pm
The OH bought 10 Cream Legbar, 6 Blue Leghorn and (by accident-first time at auction) 6 bantam Silkie fertilised eggs on Saturday. We have a broody sat on a few and the rest in the incubator.
I have just a few questions please
What vaccinations do we need to give the chicks and where do I buy it/them from ?
is it true that they are administered by the drinking water?
thankyou
Carol

It might be worth contacting a local hathery/ large poultry breeder. I contacted a local breeder and managed to get vaccinations for my chicks; free! He was going to throw them out as he had some spare

We called in to a local farm service / vets today and asked if they could help or knew where we could buy the vaccinations for chicks.  The guy I spoke to said he gets asked this question lots but no they couldn't help.  ::)
I'm gonna keep trying.
