Title: A place to stay
Post by: VSS on August 17, 2011, 05:33:32 pm
Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay near Carlisle livestock market? Not too upmarket and preferably not a Travelodge.

Townhouse B&B
153 Warwick Road
Carlisle
Cumbria
CA1 1LU
01228 598782
www.townhousebandb.com (http://www.townhousebandb.com)

Jane has stayed there a couple of times, breaking the journey to Derby. She says it's comfortable and clean, not far from the motorway and only 10 mins walk from town centre. Don't know how far from the Mart it is though.

It doesn't matter if it is a few miles away - so long as its not more than about 7 - 8 miles.

The mart's a couple of miles from the town centre, it's right by J43 of the motorway.  There'll be buses, I'm sure.

There is a Premier Inn and another of those types of places (could even be a Travelodge) right by the mart...

We (and all our neighbours who do B&B) are quite a bit further out than you are after, but I have PM'd you details of a farm B&B that is near the mart.

How about the Ifor Williams Hotel?  I thought that was the traditional accommodation for such occasions!   ;D

Hi,
There are loads of nice B&Bs and small hotels in Gretna, that is not that far from the Mart probably a 10 minute drive. I know the drive well as I live in gretna.

I stay in Carlisle every week and can recommend the Townhouse also, a very nice family but usually booked up early £30-£40 per night. I also use the Hallmark hotel right in the centre - but noisy at night £75+ per night, fall out of bed straight into about 20 pubs/clubs. Eat out don't eat in the Hotel - overpriced menu.
