Title: Insurance
Post by: melholly on August 15, 2011, 07:16:24 pm
Evening everyone,

Other than I keep a few sheep I'm not sure this is of great interest to the sheep forum in general but as TAS doesn't seem to have a designated 'Insurance' section other than Land Management which has 0 topics and 0 replies I felt I may get more advice from my 'usual' subjects!

Am looking for your experiences of insurance and any recommendations - have roughly 5 acres, a handful of sheep and ducks, a triple open barn, bits of machinery etc etc. Looking for a sensible smallholder provider who can cover me for public liability and contents...

...be interested to hear of your experiences in this area!

Thanks all
Mx

the best one would be nfu      at least they come out and have a look and can comment not just take your money then refuse to pay out when you claim  :farmer:

Second for NFU - we went with someone else last year as we dealt with someone who was a bit dopey from the NFU. Tried them on for size this year and they came up cheaper for better cover!

God they are expensive though. Mine must be due for renewal - must get on with it.

Third for NFU - very helpful, really took the time to understand our slightly unusual situation (community farm, lots of volunteer work etc.) and sorted out a good policy at a reasonable price.

That's really helpful, thanks. I was a bit put off contacting nfu as thought they would be too 'big' for me but recommendation is so important and if they come out and bother to look then that can't be a bad thing!
