Title: green manure recommendations please
Post by: clydesdaleclopper on August 08, 2011, 01:06:45 pm
I want to grow a green manure on a paddock that eventually needs reseeded with grass pasture. It is a very heavy clay which is terribly compacted. I would have liked to use Alfalfa to break up the subsoil and let the beasties eat it but my soil is very wet and very acid. Any ideas for an alternative. It has to be horse, sheep and goat friendly.

Here's a great site for info https://www.cotswoldseeds.com/seedmix/green-manures (https://www.cotswoldseeds.com/seedmix/green-manures)
They've also produced a great guide to green manures too, find it here (takes a wee while to load up) https://www.cotswoldseeds.com/files/cotswoldseeds/Cotswold_Green_Manures_final.pdf (https://www.cotswoldseeds.com/files/cotswoldseeds/Cotswold_Green_Manures_final.pdf)
