Title: Ouch!!
Post by: Roxy on August 02, 2011, 12:07:20 am
Had a bit of an accident with one of the young ponies tonight.  We were movng five of them to a different field.  One I was leading stood on my foot, tripping me up.  She then proceeded to carry on walking - right over me.  Big bruise on my leg, and even bigger one on my arm, and its swollen.  Started on arnica to try and help.  Not sure how well I will be for the horse show on Saturday, though.

Oh Roxy, pop an elastic strapping over it to help the bruising and swelling disperse, lots of cold compresses and arnica.

I taught my horse to walk at arms length as he is so clumsy and was always getting my foot and when he came to us his manners weren't bad but just needed a bit of work so he could learn personal space was not to be invaded maybe this is something you can teach your young one.

I used to lead the shire for my grandpa and he taught me to hold the lead reign with my left hand and extend my right hand toward the horse to keep a good space to avoid toe crushing (which with a shire is extremely painful) and avoid tripping.

oh, I hope your foot gets better soon, the same thing happened  to a friend of mine and her cracked bone was not seen on xray for about 6 months, then they did discover that she had a hairline fracture.
