Hello,
We have just taken delivery of 2 saddle back weaners. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for them to have poo that is a metalic purple colour?
They are fed on pig nuts.
Thanks

Nope, not really. You could see light beige through to dark brown (through experience only - I don't make a habit of studying this !). I suspect it was something they ate before coming to you. Carry on with the pig nuts and make sure that they are bright and healthy and make sure there isn't any blood in the doings.
If the colour doesn't return to normal after a day or two chat to your vet.
Cheers
Gavin

Might have had a large quantity of beet in their previous diet.

Has the problem resolved now?

Hi
Thanks for the interest. Yes, problem now resolved!! ITs brown!!! ;D
Spoke to the chap we bought them from, he says it tends to be nettles/ nettle roots that can turn their poo purple coloured- which also fits with where they are.
thanks again!

That is fascinating. I had not realised nettles could do this.
