mole valley is rapidly becoming my favourite shop in the whole wide world. I love the fact that I can buy a bottle of whisky and my airgun pellets all in one place  8)

Dont buy Hunters, quality is terrible nowadays. I finally switched allegiance and bought some Le Chameau neoprene lined ones. Almost choked at the £95 price tag even online, but since the Hunters were lasting 3 months before splitting and the Le C's have so far done a year and are as good as they day I got them AND keep my toes toasty even at our -20 weather we get, I think it was a great investment!!

www.equestrianclearance.com  (http://www.equestrianclearance.com) is always a great place for bargains, esp their clearance sections, you can get fab stuff very cheap. Wellies come under their Leisurewear section rather than the ridingwear section in the left hand menu

My wellies tend to last a year, the path we go is VERY rocky in places, a lot of people have complained as horses have problems on them, they are for the big heavy plant to clear some trees around the forest, my last boots were Muck Boots, still going strong but I felt a little leak and saw there was some wear on the sole, I also have Muddies and did have some hunter wellies but not keen on trad wellies, I love neuprene ones that keep you comfy and warm, I wear mine virtualy every day, so in a way, get my money out of them...I also have short stumpy legs ::) I would love some of the brown leather ones, I will see  ::)

I treated myself to some Aigle Vario wellies (extra large gusset at the top to fit around my fat legs!)......They have the neoprene lining and are fantastic.

I always used to have Hunters but agree that they don't last anymore. My mother gave me a pair of hers that were 10 years old and the difference in quality to one's today was amazing.

Agree about hunters mine kept splitting have switched to muck boots and though they're a bit heavy for my little legs they're snuggy and wearing well.  :)
I think the people who make Hunters have downgraded quality in favour of making loads of different colours and styles of hunter to  chase the townie chelsea tractor market ::) They seem to have forgotten about their core customers who got them to where they are today!

I keep thinking I wear wellies every day so they do get hard workouts, Devilla Forest, where I walk the dog, has places where there is very stony ground due to heavy machinery going in to fell trees soon, so this is why my wellies go. I bought some heavier bottomed Muck boots, they are a bit heavy and look HUGE one me,but they are comfy and stop me slipping in the ice and easy to get on and off (thats important too, I remember being stuck in some hunter riding boots for ages and ages) I wear wellies to walk in also as they supposed my ankles b etter than my walking boots!

As for a decent waterproof coat, I need one specifically for dog walking, I have a few that are OK, some with holy pockets (Anne and me have both lost keys due to our poor sewing skills) It needs to, be waterproof, with press stud and zip fastening so I can open party the bottom or the top rather than having the coat fully zipped all the time, also need pockets for poo bags, waterproof phone pocket, key pocket, somewhere for camera, dog treats and all the other rubbish!!! I also would love a bright coloured one, I do have a pink coat that I love but its a bit short..I like my bum kept warm and covered up!!!!

Totally agree Hunters are poo.  I've had my Le Chameaux for going on 5 years, and apart from puppy chewing off a fastener strap, they're still good, and I swear I wear them almost every day.  Even for shooting and beating.

You can always google and see who's got a sale on.  I like John Norris of Penrith.  Their sizes are very accurate for footwear and clothing.  ie I'm a 5 boot/shoes and 10 in clothing.

They're  very helpful and take returns with no bother.  Now's prob the time to get wellies etc in the sales.   :sheep: :&>
