Title: What should i do?
Post by: PhillipWillie on July 19, 2011, 03:10:31 pm
I have a leghorn hen which only today i have discovered in a nest under trees with 5 chicks. There are 11 unhatched eggs (3 cracked open). I was wondering if i should move the hen, chicks and eggs into a shed or would that put her off her clock? I dont really want the chicks to stay out much longer.

As long as the hen is looking after the chicks they won't come to any harm for a day or so.Unless you're worried about predators, in which case you may have to sacrifice the unhatched eggs to save the ones already here.

I  moved the hen with the chicks and the eggs, luckily enough she has taken to the eggs again :)

Good luck with the other little critters :)

I wouldn't have had the b*****ks to move them through fright of rejection of the others.

aww sweet.
