Rained all yesterday, all night, all day today too ...plus high winds. Big branch down on the lane, blocking the traffic during rush hour this morning. Rushing round feeding the animals before work this morning, and husband was feeding the male goats for me. He had fed Darren, and the new boy - Elliot the pygny who we collected yesterday - in their sheds, and was on the Franks, when he heard a loud noise behind him. It was a massive Ash tree branch which fell around 40 ft from the enormous tree. Landed inches from Darrens door!! Had it gone on the roof it would have killed him, as its so big. And had my husband been feeding Darren, he would have been killed too.
Goats have enjoyed the free leaves which arrived at their door though!!
Elliot was trying to lift the enormous branch with his horns - must think he is the worlds strongest goat.

Self gathering firewood eh , if only it logged itself as well !, glad no one got injured.
-
what a stroke of luck that it was a goat edible tree too! you'd be cursing if you'd have to get that out in a hurry ;D
glad everyone is ok ! xx

So glad everybody is OK....must have been a terrible shock, particularly when it sunk in just how close it was.!!!!! :o
-
blimey, that was close!
they must both have a guardian angel.
laughing at Elliot, the world's stongest goat! :D the boys will now expect all their food delivered through the door when its been raining....

Leaves have mysteriously disappeared by this evening - just the enormous bough and some branches left........goats must have tucked in till nothing left. Little Elliot is using the large bough for jumping over.
I am worried now about the tree, but its massive, and would need specialist people to take it down - and its actually in next doors field. Hopefully no more branches will fall. Tree looks healthy enough, just one of those things I suppose.

free fire wood then :)
