This is the milking stand my BH has made me
Made from recycled/scrap wood, can be made to measure to fit your Goats from £100, also good for hoof trimming and vet care, may be interested in trading let me know what you have to offer 8)

What a good idea, Hattie, and well done to your BH for coming up with the initiative to make these ......the ones in the "shops" are so expensive, I am sure these will go like hot cakes
-
Thanks Roxy Ascotts charge £175 for theirs and I just couldn't afford that. Boss can make them in different styles and designs big or small also with different types of wood, although I said this is Scrap wood it has never been used before we have a contact for off cuts

Seriously though - that's a brilliant looking piece of kit. Is the stool attached or is that moveable?
-
the stool is separate I am going to take some better photos this afternoon without the goats so you can see better
-
How does the piece over the head work ? Does it just lift up and down, and secure down after the goat is on the stand ?
I got one from Ascott, but it's not very solid and has had to have modifications.

Hi janeislay
The headstock is split vertically and each side pivots on a large bolt & it fastens at the top with a hook & eye, the goat can raise or lower its head and is only restricted from side to side. It is not light weight and I have mine in a permanent position although it could be made lighter and fold-able, I was going to take more photos today but it never stopped raining, I will make sure I get some tomorrow this one is from my phone if it works
