Title: Blackcurrant seedlings
Post by: joyofchicks on July 11, 2011, 12:01:33 am
Hello - can you tell me if the germinated seedlings from my two blackcurrant bushes will grow into fruiting plants?  I've had the bushes for quite a few years and they are very productive but I have never noticed seedlings before.  I've potted up a couple to see what will happen.  Thanks.

It works for rasps - can't get rid of them once you start. ::)  I can't see why not.  I presume you mean self rooted plants?

Yes, they should be absolutely fine.  :)

Over-winter them in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse this winter, then plant them out in late spring.
