Title: Where can i find?
Post by: CameronS on July 10, 2011, 12:14:53 am
Hello,

another one of my "sob stories" can anyone suggest somewhere when i can find a "dog trap" i may be clutching at straws here but we are at  wits end.

A week ago today a large sable long haired GSD broke loose from the garden where she was "playing" and was found running around on the Kingskettle to star road in fife around 9 in the morning. We received a call at the kennels saying it was running around on the rad would g down and have a look and see if we could catch her. so being the Samaritans that we are we headed off in the car and found her easily, but as soon as i got out, she legged it down a farm track, so i followe her slowly trying to coax  her towards me, this didn't work obviously i ended up running 2 miles in wellies trying to head her off before she ran out onto a very busy road!!

Needless to say she disappeared into woodland and was gone. she has now been running around a 2 mile square area and has been seen a few times but is that scared no one can get close to her. we are getting really worriedfor her health as we have had some extremes of weather.

like i suggested is there some form of dogtrap we could set somewhere??

she is on dog lost, local police/dogwardens are notified, the local pound kennels know, there are posters up all over the place, but there are so many people pranking the number it is un believable

Sick pranksters!
I know this is a bit of a long shot .. but we  once had a dog escape from a vets where I worked,(not guilty!) after following sightings of it all around the village I spotted it & called it's name but it started to head away from me so I shoted in my most authoratative voice  SIT! , thankfully it did so I shouted stay & kept calmly repeaing stay til I got to it & put a lead on.  If anyone can get within hearing distance it might be worth a try on the chance it has been trained... ???

If you can get within 20 ft of it use sardines!! i've never met a hungry dog yet who can resist them!! we've caught dog's with them before, if you know where the dog is sited often go to that place, same time every day for a couple of days and they will normally not be able to resist x If it's definately a trap job give rotty rescue in fife a call and they have a lot of contact's and will help you source on to lend x

any joy in catching the gsd Cameron?

I've worried about her, as I have a barmy gsd of my own (currently trying her best to flatten my legs into some unrecognisable part of the settee!)

she was caught 07.30 this morning, she just wadered up to some hill walkers who cleverly caught her and phoned the number on the collar tag.

after 10days running around the hills the vets have checked her over and only found a large blister on her from left pad, and underweight, thankfully sh is not dehydrated or anythingmore serious.

  thats the good part  ::)

The dog was left at a small private kennels - that we have since found out has no license run by the Dog walker. The dog had been dropped off on the Friday night as the family were leaving midday on the Saturday. the dog who is petrified of other dogs was let out Saturday morning with about 5 other dogs in a area surrounded with a 4ft high fence. needless to say the dog did a runner straight over the fence and away. This woman instead of looking for the dog herself she phoned the owner on the morning of their departure dragging them out! the kennels were then phoned - we went out! and several others were out looking, only after 2hrs of searching did we find out that the woman who let the dog out in the first place was doing bugger all!!

this went on for days, everyone else trying to sort out her mess, and she did bugger all, we've not even had a thanks

all I can say to that (thats polite) is  ... poor bloomin' dog!
Some GSDs are big wusses,
our girl has massive problems, including fear aggression (lack of socialisation & abuse as a pup)
so how stupid would you have to be to let loose a dog that a) is scared of other dogs, b) away from her owners and c) can jump a fence form a standing start?!

you only have to watch all those reality cop shows to see how fast GSDs are in action, and how well they can jump....
