We had a bit of a shock today, decided last week that our goats needed worming, problem was we had no idea about the weight of our individual animals. so ventured to our next door neighbour and borrowed his old sheep scales, (actualy old pig weighers). 1 x Billy Brit, Saanen 80kg, 3 x nanny Brit, Saanen 78kg ,65kg, 51kg, 2 x Brit,Togenburgs44kg & 42kg, just goes to show that you can't lump the nannies into the same weight category for worming just because they look the same, but now we are confident that the job has been done as it should be .

Hi is it possible to get worming tablets or powder to but in their feed and if so what is the best product ?

Our vet recommended and gave us a prescription for albex 2.5% w/v , it's a fluke and worm drench for sheep and cattle, we bought it off the internet .( cheaper ) the trouble is not many wormers are licenced for goats so you have to get a prescription , or tell your retailer it's for sheep. it does round ,lung, tape and fluke. but very important to get the dose right by weighing your goats.

No worming tablets for goats - drench or injection. best thing is a worm count and then follow recommendations from your vet. Most wormers need 1.5 to 1.8 times the sheep dose for goats, and you can fairly accurately estimate the weight of a dairy goat from her girth measurement. I posted a table on this ages ago.

Way better to drench or inject, at least you know what dose they've had.
