Title: poorly duck
Post by: northfifeduckling on July 05, 2011, 05:50:26 pm
I separated one of my older girls yesterday, she's not eaten for a few days, was light a a feather and had kept herself seperate, probably to avoid the boys' attention.... She does drink and had some porridge in her wee prison today. Strange thing is that she does not make a sound other than hissing, maybe something's lodged in her throat?? Or is there another known condition with this a symptom?  :'( :&>

never heard of that before Kerstin, be really interested to know if anyone knows. And i hope she improves quickly, poor lass.  are you able to hold her upside down and see if you can see inside her mouth?

I don't know but I'm guessing that to be able to, and want to, quack properly you have to feel full of beans - if not, you might just make a quiet hiss.

Have you wormed her?

That's actually probably true.  One of my girls is making a kind of umm  ::) squeaking noise instead of quacking all the time like the others - she's broody and I keep moving her off the eggs every morning.  Perhaps she doesn't feel 100%

yes, they were all wormed 2 months ago and all the others are fine. She must feel too lousy to make any other sounds then. No change in her tonight  :( :&>

she sadly died this morning. Still puzzled at what has caused her to go down like that. Everyone else is fine. :( :&>

Poor Duck, you tried at least, in the wild she would have more likely died sooner!! :bouquet:
