Weird one today - black egg found with the duck eggs - what can it be?
-
I sometimes get a really dark one. They are ok to eat just dont look good in the for sale box!
-
A photo would be good. Never seen a black egg of any kind.
-
what breed is it?
-
It was dark-brown and when I cracked it (couldn't resist). the yolk and white were all runny together. It almost looked like it had been formed in a pile of duck poo - as if the shell had absorbed the dark poo!!
Weird - meant to take a photo of it but couldn't find the card for the camera - duh
-
the ducks are Aylesburys - so big white eggs normally
-
Weird! Cayugas lay black eggs but not usually Aylesburys ???
-
Here we go - I fished it out of the compost bin! Hope no-one is eating their breakfast....
