Title: kale
Post by: sabrina on June 24, 2011, 06:20:02 am
I am growing this for the first time and it is doing very well. I know it is often used in soup up here but can it be cooked and used like cabbage. Also growing Pack Choi ( sorry about the spelling ) to use in stir fries, what other use does this have. :-\

Kale - wonderful steamed but only use the younger leaves.  Pak Choi - you can use baby leaves raw in salads

I grow cavalo nero and its lovely steamed, have got all my brassicas under net this year we had endless problems last year with a moth that had tiny green caterpillars full the broccoli and the sprouts, my eyesight can spot cabbage whites but not those little blighters

I use kale pretty much like cabbage ... cos I'm too forgetful to collect the newest leaves very often!
Its lovely, and even the toughest stems can be chopped and cooked down soft.
