Title: GORGEOUS highland cow + calf. E Yorks
Post by: landroverroy on June 15, 2011, 06:59:03 pm
Highland cow + calf for sale. £700 for both.
These animals are really tame and well handled. They calved April/May, and have been running with the bull again.
They are the easiest of cattle to keep, live outside all year, and very easy calving.
Apparently their digestion is 30% more efficient than modern breeds, and certainly ours kept in good condition last winter on straw and carrots alone.
They will thrive on rough pasture but if kept on good grass  will fatten as fast as any other British breed.
BUT most people keep a few because they look FANTASTIC grazing outside your window and really add a touch of class to your surroundings.

Hiya. What colour is your cow and calf? Not that we have the spare cash at moment anyway - just bought a two year old white one as a wedding present to ourselves.
Whereabouts are you and do you have a bull that's for hire?
Our cows (two of them, one with this years bull calf) are at Mickle Trafford at the moment with the bull there. We are bringing the three heifers in to get them ready for showing - one red, one yellow, one white. :-) Only showen them once - and they were a bit feisty! :-/ But very nice to get the interest and good for them to get used to it.
You are so so right about them looking stunning on your land though! When we first bought our first two (a cow in calf and a yearling - those now with the bull) - just going up the field and seeing them there was breathtaking. And tbh it still is - they are stunning animals :-) The heifers are alongside a footpath in Betws y Coed and always get stopped and looked at :-)
Glad you haven't posted a picture of your cow - the breeder that sold us our first sent us a picture of her white - and well now she's ours!! Lol
Thanks x
