I am trying to be totaly self sufficient when it comes to food for me and my family. Is there any tips on rearing chickens? I am also a keen hunter and love to get rabbits for the pot.is there anyone in the Dumfriesshire area that needs help with rabbit control?I must also say i stumbled upon this site and i love it....

Hi welcome, bit far from you for rabbit control. Re chickens look in the poultry area, pour a drink and be prepared to spend a couple of very interesting hours.

Hi there, just over the border in north Cumbria. BH won't let me get anyone to shoot rabbits for the pot, sadly, as I love a good rabbit stew. If you have any spare, lob 'em my way! Can swap for raw milk, cream, home-made yoghurt, curd cheese, cottage cheese, etc, etc.
Welcome to the forum - but be warned, it's addictive!

Hello and welcome!!
I too and a long way from you - in Derbyshire. I love rabbit stew or pie, but my OH will not touch it. My farm cats bring the rabbits, but run the other way when they see me ......they know I will try and steal it from them!!

Hello, I have 22 chickens now and they are fab they all have there own little caractors 21 hens and our 1 year old cockerel called Scrappy doo my first cockerel was called Scooby Doo and we lost him to a buzzard attack. Try and keep your chickens away from your veggies as they scape up and plants you plant and of course will eat any seeds that you plant. I am bit far for rabbit control and my cat does a good job. Have experience Magpies stealing eggs and breaking them from my coop so be ware, hanging a dead one from the door way seems to work
