Title: Pigs no more!
Post by: white-blazes on June 09, 2011, 04:36:53 pm
Off they went yesterday to the slaughterhouse.  They wouldn't both load, so we had to take one at a time. Hubby did their ear tags and I think this was the problem, we should have done them the night before, so they would have forgotten all about it when the time came to load.

Luckily they only had a 6/7 mile journey, so it wasn't too time consuming.

Local butcher is collecting tomorrow, then doing our cuts for us. Can't wait to see what we end up with ;D

I always load them the night before and ear tag in the trailer. You'll find it all worthwhile when you start eating the meat! :yum:

Not had the meat back yet, he's curing it for bacon, so it will be early next week, then we go abroad on Wednesday for 2 weeks so it will be a while before we get to sample it properly.

Weights were good though, 50kg each (6 months old).

PNT, breeding we were told was GOS x Leicester whites, whatever the latter are, no such breed some say so goodness knows ???
