To explain:
Some teenagers from the village were camping in our far field this weekend. Digby waddled down to meet and greet during the afternoon, and stayed down with them. When it got to 9 pm and he still hadnt come back for his supper and bed, I went to search for him, found him staggering back along the top path looking for all the world as if he was drunk. When he finally managed to stagger on to his sofa, I realised from his breath that indeed he was probably drunk. (Later investigation found he had been sampling beer and cider).
This morning he is wandering around like a pig with a sore head. My OH swears by alka saltser (sorry spelling) I have the french equivalent, wondered if it would be ok for him and how much to give him. He weighs in at aprox. 250 k.
I would telephone the vet except that our normal vet who knows Digby is on holiday and I dont want the men in white coats being dispatched to me.
Thanks in Advance.

I'm not sure about the alka-seltzer HM - but I had to comment ;)
What a boy :D Sounds like he's been spending way to much time with Hilary ::) ;D
Suppose the traditional fry-up is out of the question ? :o ;D
Poor Digby (and you for having to suffer along with him) hope he's feeling better soon :-*

What a wonderful story, I am sure these sort of stories could be collated into a wonderful book !
Our thoughts are with your Digby - HIC !

Robert & Sarah.

You really should write that book!!!
Bless him  sounds like he was lead astray, be careful he doesn't find his way to the local pub and makes it a weekly event. He is probably dehydrated what about some water with glucose/salt in or lectade the vet equivalent of dioralyte.
Hope he feels better soon xx

If Digby were me, I'd be wanting water, shade, quiet.
If Digby were my friend I'd be visiting with ghetto blaster, very loud Hawaiian-type shirt, large fry-up.
And I wonder why nearly all my friends have 4 legs... and don't drink...
-
Poor lad. Soulles!?
Can't answer re alkasaltser, but I'm sure you'll keep an eye on him - a quiet place to nap and lots of water (to re-hydrate). :notwell:
Little camping so and so's.....
Hope all is well.

Very funny mental image, sounds like a story for a film!!!! Love Digby

Just found this but is doesn't mention large blacks with hang overs!!
Joking aside not sure re alkaseltzer as it contains asprin

Brilliant ;D ;D Digby out on the tiles ;D ;D
Given that the hangover will be de-hydration any type of isotonic drink - water with some sugar and a bit of salt - will help to alleviate the headache
Good luck

Would that be " Lucozade sPORK " ???

;D ;D very good

Thanks all. Gave him loads of water with some sugar in it. About 2 pm he staggered out to my ex pumpkin patch and laid with his head in the low branches (very low to the ground) of the peach tree. He drank some more water then about 6 ish started to feel peckish. He has just polished off a very large dinner, and he wont be going visiting anyone next weekend. The friends who will be using the field next week are tee totallers so he can od on orange juice!!!!!
Again many, many thank for all the advice, I really am too old to be dealing with a teenager . They tell me this phase will not last for too long, he will grow up eventually. ;D
-
Bless him, Digby is sooo funny!
give him my best wishes... your first hangover is one to remember!
-
You would have such a quiet life without Digby and Hilary giving you grief!! ;D

I wish I had something useful to add but I don't.
You did make I larf though :)
-
I woud have a quiet life without them, but a sad one, they do bring so much pleasure.
Thanks everyone for all the advice, which was gratefully received and the comforting and funny comments which boosted my day. He is back to normal now. I think he should sign the pledge!!!!! ;D
-
Bless glad he has made a complete recovery until the next time, you know what teenagers are like!! :D
-
I do ad I pray he gets through this quicker than my son. I am too old for a repeat of that. ;D ;D
-
Maybe you should test if he has learnt his lesson - offer him a drink of cider/beer and see the reaction ;D ;D

Did that work with the teenage son? ;) :D

Have just read this as have been out of action (bad back again ::)) and it made me smile so much!
he really is getting to be quite a character, we had this with delia after she'd scoffed loads of sugar beet and it fermented in her tummy, damp cold icy flannel applied to head and electolytes in water helped! The things they get up to!!
Glad he's back to his old self!
mandy :pig:

FF that is priceless just imagining Delia with a cold compress on her head. Obviously at the time you dont think of it, but a photo would have been wonderful. ;D ;D ;D ;D

The intrepid campers arrived again yesterday, no problems with alcohol, I think everyone leaned a lesson from that one. But they had biscuits in the tent, and Digby mistaking his welcome, barged inside, and sat on the matress. Sadly the blow up mattress is no more. Off now to buy a replacement. That pig is costing me ...
-
;D ;D, ;D
-
carry on camping - that pig should have his own tv show (and therefore his own bank account!)
:D just love Digby! :pig:
-
He has finally gone to bed. Oh well tomorrows another day. He seems to like camping.
-
I  Digby and agree with Little Blue Would have loved to have seen him on the airbed
-
After todays shenanigans the punctured air bed didnt seem such a catastrophe after all. We have decided next time we have campers we will erect an electric fence around the tent to keep h im out.

He's got his own tent now? :D Clearly got a taste for camping then :pig:
Ahhh, their tent, now that would be sooo funny if the chaps decided to have a sleepy midnight pee......... :D ;D :D
-
whilst we all love digby is it not possible to keep him penned when you have campers?
-
Are you suggesting it is Hilarys turn to meet and greet the next lot of campers? ;D now that I'd like to see
