This was a blatant theft of two 6 week old Springer pups - please circulate as far and wide as you can.
http://doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=30169 (http://doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=30169)
Man phoned to view pups then said could not come as wife had broken her ankle. Then re-phoned to say not a break but bad sprain so will still come. Arrive ask if can take pups to car as wife cannot get out. Car had been turned around one man in drivers seat - a lady on back seat with car door open- man in photo pushes owner out of way throws pups into car and speeds off. This is an R or S reg green VW passat.

What an awful story. I do hope they get their puppies back.
-
Wow.....What a dreadful thing to happen.
Hope they get the puppies back.
-
So horrid, I wonder if they were thinking about using her for puppy farming? Hope they get her back soon.

They took two of them.

I thought I read 2, thats even worse >:(

God now I'm worried - luckily my only unbooked Springer puppy has not been advertised yet. Someone I know only lets people come to see her pups if they give their type & no of car first. She also says she will take pictures of people when they arrive to view. I think I may follow her example.

Hope they catch the sods :o

It was a very mean thing to do. I am suprised they were so blatent, could be easy to get caught this way so they must have worked out their escape carefully and, or not have had a single track road or similar that could have stopped them. Other than for a puppy farm (or in a local case curry - dog microchip found in the takeaway) they would not be of much value surely? Around where we live there are masses of springer pups for sale and it only those with papers that sell.
-
or in a local case curry - dog microchip found in the takeaway
That's shocking :o BUT might it have been one from a slaughtered 'micro' pig ?
-
I would think that a lot of people could be fooled by pretend papers, I know they will not be registered but the buyer may not have seen a reg document or understand the procedure of the Kennel Club, so they could still be sold at a profit.
Years ago, when I was a little girl, people were buying up litters of pups to make fur coats!!!!
-
That's just to sick for words :o
-
Pups sell for a lot of money without papers because Joe Public is gullible. I know of unregistered Brittanys making £350, mine are £500, my friends in England charge £650, and Bringers (cross Springer/Brittany) are selling for £800! It's a mad old world
-
Re the curry - The chip got stuck in someones tooth and the dentist and police identified it. Local shop closed at the moment! I agree that you could forge papers but surely if you are going to pay that much (these days) you check with the registries be it KKGB, cat regs or other animal socs? Also Dogandjo why are Bringers seen to be worth so much? Thats more than double than you pay for excellent champion pedigree working Springers in the south west UK - or maybe its that we have a glut of them here?
I know that cats are still being used off and on for the fur trade. I keep my sheep/fowl/pigs to eat - no names and humane - otherwise I would be a veggie. And we use everthing we can from them and respect them totally for feeding us.
I remember seeing a dreadful BBC film of people skinning foxes alive. Now I am no friend of Mr Fox and the way they treat chickens and fowl. But it is in their nature to do so and for us to protect our birds from them - including removing the foxes, but... My mind still replays those images of animals just kept for their coats and most importantly stripped alive and tossed aside to die of the shock. Ditto dogs for the table another BBC film. But these BBC films have and still do make me stop and think, make judgements on my own morals and in a challenging way make me tunning into my moral compass.

Bringers are that expensive because the woman who is selling them asks for that much and gets it because the gullible british public think with a name like that they will retrieve without being trained to! Duh!

I am so in the wrong full-time job...My girls are now well behaved but... begers belief

I so loved the idea that Bringers retrieve automatically I had to think of some more:
Springer x Lab = Springador : opens doors for you
Spitz x any Spaniel = Spitzspan : cleans the house for you
I'll put this in Coffee Lounge where it belongs

That's why I keep mine in the kitchen till they are sold, and the doors are locked when anyone comes to see them (the key in my pocket). But I must admit I hadn't realised just how organised thieves could be. My daughter's house was broken into yesterday and her wedding day jewellery stolen (that I and her Grandmother had given her on their engagement to wear on the day as my Mum knew she wouldn't live to see it) The thieves must have been watching her go out They sat last night with the instruction manual for the alarm system - only been in the house a few weeks so hadn't got round to using it.
We have a wonderful police force in the UK, very kind, and smart - those two puppies have been very lucky. I think Facebook may have a lot to do with it though - no place to hide now! ::)
-
Anne, I wonder if you have any photos of the jewelry as then that can also be put onto facebook! they probably have sold it to a known "fence" I doubt through those used jewelry shops but you never know. WHere I lived there were certain places you could go and see stolen property such as back of pubs etc, the police usualy have an incling!!! If they are distinct then you should get them back fingers crossed.
I have never needed to lock anyone in when selling pups ;), I am always with them anyway and they do not need to take them out until they are ready to go to thier new home...anyway, this house is usualy full of strange men ;)

Photo of the necklace I gave Sarah is now on Facebook - the bracelet is matching, and the earrings Duncan had made for her to wear with them at their wedding matched too - they alone cost £400 in 1995.
I'e attched a photo of it here

Oh dear. The thing is, too much info is given out to strangers over the internet - albeit facebook, this forum, or whereever - above is a good example - now we ALL know what time your daughter goes out, what she is doing, how long she is gone, the name of her child and approx age, (I've blanked out the info, no need to repeat). It doesn't take much to piece info together from various postings, and that's all the bad people need.
Please be careful what you write folks, stay safe.

5 years ago my mum in her 70's had her miniature schnauzer stolen from her garden whilst my son was dog sitting (she and my dad who is sadly no longer with us were on holiday in Hong Kong) The police were not helpful at all, at first they wouldn't log it as a theft they said the dog could have just got out, till we pointed out that the dog was 20in high and the wall is 5ft gates padlocked and chicken wire across the bottom. We did all the leg work putting up posters in every shop/phone box/library anyone who would let us put one up. After a few days we started to lose hope, then we received a phone call "hello I think my daughter and her boyfriend have got your dog, they have been trying to sell it, they are both addicts would you like the address" we rang the police to get some assistance and they didn't want to know we couldn't believe it, we jumped in the car and headed off to the house.
Me and my mum went to the door and of course they had no idea what we were talking about!! Mum shouted "Rosa" and good as gold she answered her "yap yap yap" This was enough we told her we wanted the dog but she refused I pushed past her and went to get the dog myself when I got inside there were 4 or 5 other pedigree dogs in cages. Rosa was in a mess her ears looked and prop forwards (according to the vet she had been banging her head against things due to stress) while I was in the house the police turned up a neighbour had rang the as the girl and my mum were arguing outside. The were not interested at all in the fact that they had stolen the dog but they threatened to arrest me for breaking and entering/forced entry. Such a helpful police force

Sorry you had such a bad experience, I have always had good and kind service from our Scottish police force.

I know it can be very different from area to area my brother in law is a police officer in another county and even he couldn't believe it
