'Escape to the country' are filming the goats and I next week - eeeeek! they are helping a couple relocate to the worcestershire countryside and wanted to find someone who keeps goats and who makes money from goat products. One google search later they came up with little old me and my soap!
They are coming tuesday, yes I'm nervous - I wish I'd had a months notice to lose a bit of weight LOL. we will milk the goat and talk about goat keeping, country life and how to make soap :)
Deep down I am more excited about the chance to help another couple enjoy the lovely life we now have than I am about plugging my soap business :)
episode will be shown this autumn.
-
Oh I love that programme and ALL house hunting programmes....I bet you are nervy, i would be too!!!!!!!! I wonder when it will be screened??? We will all be glued!!!
-
Great stuff! You'll be fab. I'm in this months Ideal Home mag, aren't we a showbiz lot? Hahaha!

THis forums full of stars ;D
LOL too right!! ;D
Am going to buy Ideal home mag now dizzycow!!
I sooooo hope that my goats behave for this one and hubby has just stated "oh, you'll have to clean the house now then won't you..." cheeky so and so!!
-
wow, how exciting...
so all those mags weren't enough for you and the fame-hungry goats then Lisa?! ;) ;D
make sure you tell us when it'll be on, will have to record if its on in the daytime...
(and say to hubby "no, but you can if it bothers you!!")
-
Wow! Good luck with the filming and the tidying. I'm nervous enough about local radio coming tomorrow to do a piece on our community farm.
-
How exciting ;D - and nerve wracking :o
You must let us know how it goes and when to watch it ;D
-
oh I know little blue! all those mags, business went wild after them!! this one though, they contacted me out of the blue, such a shock and I said yes without even thinking. oops!!
sounds good benkt - radio is quite pleasant, I did quite a few radio interviews when I co-founded a postnatal group and its quite nice having a chat over the phone or to the person who comes out to you. I think I have a face for radio but not tv myself ;) good luck for tomorrow!
I will do Jaykay - am ever so nervous and thinking this really warrants a new outfit really doesn't it? (don't tell tony i said that anyone haha!!)
-
Of course it warrants a new outfit :D
-
Def a new outfit, what better excuse? I was mid scrub (of the bathroom) when the photographer announced that he needed me for photos - aarrrgghhhh. Crap clothes, smelling of BO and bleach, no makeup, bed hair........ they could have warned me. I was not best pleased! Nice new wellies perhaps? Good luck, and let us all know when you're on! :)
-
You must let us know when it's on! How exciting :)
If it's a good interviewer, they'll make it a breeze for you. And it's not live, so if you fluff your lines, you can ahve another go ;D
-
Ooh, how exciting for you!!
Our farm has been filmed twice for country type programmes. On one of the programmes, they wanted me to walk a goat on a lead down in front of the farmhouse - not sure why, but had to keep doing the same thing over and over. I was so worried that the goat would tank off with me on the end of the rope, and it was pouring with rain too. My poor uncle had to demonstate how to cut grass with a large sythe.
I was very surprised how many people they needed to film all this .....and then when it was shown on the telly, if you blinked you would have missed us ;D
-
I bet they want you to look like a stereotypical goat keeper, maybe an Afghan coat, Welles, red trousers, long flowing hair and a beard, even though you are a women......I bet they ask you to wear a woolen jumper ;) I did a bit of film production work in my role as a youth worker, I was with a professional TV crew and really there to keep the teenagers in order but it was laborious, all things measured, times, light metered etc and as you said, filmed again and again and again until they get it right"""

They were hoping it would [tank off with you on the end of the rope], that's why they asked you to keep doing it! ;)

How exciting! I don't watch television but if you let us know when you'll be on I will make sure I see it. Definitely a new outfit is called for( black takes pounds off of you) but do remember to groom the goats BEFORE you get changed! :o
Looking forward to seeing you.
-
how fab Lisa. Just enjoy it and forget the cameras - it'll be really enjoyable to chat about all the things that are important to you. and so many others will benefit from it - well done x
-
Not a tv star but my recipe for spotty pig pies was in the farmer's Weekly week before last so we're doing well between us.
I like escape to the country as well, look forward to seeing you in the autumn.
Mandy

I love that and the other househunting programmes too - reckon I'd make a great renovator project manager too if I just had a builder in the family to do the donkey work ;)
Will definitely watch if you tell us the date, tho I reckon it'll be hours of work for a 10 second clip of which 8 will be the presenter talking ::)
I reckon forget the new outfit and the tidying - show how it really is and go for the authentic hair covered jumper/fleece look with big muddy wellies :) Then you can enjoy it rather than look worried (about your clothes) and uncomfortable, and maybe you'll be the next big star ;D
-
;D Black clothes defintately a good idea apart from milking goat being white and hairy ;) - will groom and bath goats on sunday (with Its Baaath time soap of course LOL)
They've said my little bit will last about 3 minutes but take around 2 hours to film (!) I love the programme and am so excited to be part of it, albeit for a diddy minute, and mores to the point it will be so fab to share with others how our own escape to the country has literally changed and improved our lives so much. Prior to living here, I was a stressed, depressed 30 something working for the NHS and not wanting to go to work each day - still a 30 something but although I collapse into bed most nights, I still spring out of it again in the morning ready for a lovely day. I hope it always feels like this!
Mandy - spotty pig pies sound fab! have you put the recipe on the section here on tas? I'd like to try them.
-
Recipe duly posted in recipe department! :pig:
-
Excellent!! thank you Mandy xxx
-
How exciting!! good luck hope the goats behave themselves :D
-
Well done mrs ! All publicity is good publicity and I know you'll be fine in front of the cameras ;)
Good luck and like everyone else says - TELL US WHEN IT'S ON ;D

Ive been on telly twice, once many years ago, I was on Songs of Praise, our school choir was invited to help with the singing! Then years later, I was on The Money Programme, demonstrating a cash on a card system. I met quite a few celebs through that too.
Nothing to do with goats I know, but it was quite exciting at the time!
Anyone else been "on the box"?
-
I was interviewed on BBC news about perinatal mental health 4 years ago. A young mum had thrown her newborn baby out of a window (he was ok thankfully!) and our charity was contacted for an 'expert' - muggins was chosen ;) It was fine really - I think this time though I am working with that old saying of 'never work with animals or children...' and dreading what my goats might do!
-
I was on the BBC News a couple of years ago being interviewed prior to the budget.
-

No, but the dog running across the green towards Tom Baker as Dr Who in the episode that had all the first three (or was it four? can't remember) doctors in, that dog was my dog.
One of my housemates had a "Dr Who scarf", and Moses really loved him. So when he saw a Dr Who scarf the other side of the green he assumed it was Paul and ran over to him. Tom Baker was lovely about it.
I was in a lift with Patrick Troughton once. Never met any of the other doctors although I did see David Tennant on stage (years before everyone else realised how good he was.)
I was asked to be interviewed on local radio once but I knew I would be hopeless so refused. Well done all of you who have done TV - truly terrifying, I would find it!
-
I was part of a programme of "This is Your Life" in the 50's. (how many of you will rmember that series? ;))
-

I do! Though maybe not in the 50s - but it ran for many many years, didn't it? Eamonn Andrews then Michael Aspel?
So which celeb was the subject when you were on it? And what was your link with them?
-
I remember that, it was my mums favorate and we HAD to be very quiet watching that!!!
-
Oh, and my youngest son is in several episodes of Balamory.
-
Balamory? we love that here! is he one of the nursery children? bless!!
well my dear mother has just agreed to be on local news tonight (its all go here.. seems once the bbc has your phone number for one thing, they get you into everything!!) she's talking about the nursing home where she goes for respite, being possibly closed and what a terrible impact that will have on her.
-
Tell me about it! I did a short piece yesterday about our community farm which went fine (I think - its not gone out yet so we'll have to wait a bit for a final verdict) and they phoned again today to ask me to talk about our church's rethatching project tomorrow!
-
This is all greatly entertaining. What a fascinating variety of fifteen minutes of fame!
-
i've been on bargain hunt and also on don't do it dom it........
-
I haven't been on the TV, but I was in one of the Sunday papers and a book all due to trying to choose the sex of my last baby - it worked I got my girl ;D
Dizzycow what beautiful house you have, I'm jealous :D
-
Balamory? we love that here! is he one of the nursery children? bless!!
Yes, we used to live in Tobermory where they filmed most of it.
My son is the only one that had a solo singing part :)
-
Wow, what a load of celebs, I had a phone call from Location Location Location and the Beeb asked to use one of my photos for a programme about Scotland, the programme was not shown in UK!
-
I was on TV when I was about 7, period costume walking down a hay field, back view ::) :D
Then I was on again about 20 years ago talking about New Zealand flatworms on some channel 4 gardening prog - they didn't tell me where to look so I came across as really shifty ;D ;D ;D I worked in a childrens ward at that time and they ALL watched - and laughed of course :D :D I was presented with an engraved trowel ::)
Nowadays, they seem to pounce on my OH at the Highland Show each year for sound bites, but not me - wonder why not ;D ;D ;D ??? I just about choked on my words for nerves with the flatworm thing so I'm glad I'm no longer tv material :)
Good luck with it plums and we will all be glued to our screens .
-
i lived in africa when i was a wee girl and we had a programme made about us...the whole relocating family from uk to africa thing. i was too wee to know much about what was happening and my mum says i just chatted to everyone (nothing new there then!!).
then there were budget cuts and it was never shown!!!
we've tried to locate it since but it was 40+ years ago now so suspect it will be well binned by now.
-
That would be so emotional to see that film egglady, I too would love to see a film about a 6th cousin who lived and wrote about Inuit life, it was CLiff Mitchalmore and it was in the 70's, he reminds me sooo much of a nutty uncle!! Just looking at an old film of my wedding to my ex in 72 was interesting, just to see shops, fashion and the people I had not noticed on the day!!!!
-
How spooky, I just looked at E Mails and some one from Arazona is asking about DUncan Pryde, they know a bit and want to know more......the power of the tin ter net aye?
-
I am just going to watch Escape to the country on I player and wonderd how it went??/ Looking forward to seeing some one from her on TV....makes it so much more personal!! I wonder if the goats were good too ???
-
I was on a programme all about the West Midlands Air Ambulance I went to meet the crew at Cosford who had revivied me and helped to get me out of the car I was trapped in. It was nice to find out that the paramedic who revived me was in fact very good looking....shame I was unconscious at the time.
It was a fantastic experience a chance to say a big thank you.
-
How nice to be able to say thank you TheGirlsMum, I think I saw that episode, I often watch it, nice that TV and internet can be good, very good!!!
-

It went OK thank you! :) Very hard work. they are quite clear about what they want and how they want it and quite often were guiding me with what to say so it didn't feel natural at all at times!
Goats were very well behaved, Savanna loved all the attention and was lapping up her 5 minutes of fame bless her! Reggie slightly less so , mainly because he had a huge rack of hay all to himself so was getting tucked in to that.
slightly funny moment when my cat brought in a live mouse as we were filming in the kitchen and talking about how soap is made. Toby had dropped it on the floor,it ran under the fridge but chose to run across the kitchen just as I was talking of the merits of goats milk soap - cue lots of laughter from me and a frazzled camera lady!
many hours for just a few minutes on the screen but certainly lots of fun ;D
-
:D hope they keep that bit in - maybe the cat and mouse just wanted to be on telly too!
did Reggie still have his purple "lipstick" on?!
-
;D ;D, I bet they don't put that bit in, as funny as it would be it might steal the show!!
-
He did Little blue! his mouth was bright purple as were both his back legs where the foot spray had 'bled' upwards. he looked a right sight!!
My youngest daughter came home from nursery midway through filming and had a hissy fit when she heard 'mummy was going on tele' because she thought that they were going to shrink me and put me inside the actual TV and I'd never get out again ;D took ages to calm her back down bless her.
-
Glad it all went well for you and the animals behaved! let us know when it's on
-
Well done you! Looking forward to seeing the episode - don't forget to tell us when it's on!
