Title: Advice please
Post by: ramblerskitchen on May 07, 2011, 06:35:33 pm
Hi  I have just killed the another 4 of my Ross Cobb chickens for meat.   We killed them last night, hung them overnight and plucked them today.  I am a bit concerned as 3 of them have green skin around their legs and around their backsides.  This only effects the skin and the meat underneath looks normal.  Is there something wrong with them?  I must admit that I did not starve them for 12 hours before they were killed.   I have killed 3 before which were killed as not able to stand but their skin was fine.

I don't want to eat them if there is something the matter and I also have another 13 to kill this week.  Please help

If you don't stop feeding them at least 12 hours before killing the feed in the intestines starts to ferment and turn green.
