Help, tonight we notice Gwil the pig has a swollen dewclaw on his back right leg. It seems he may have caught it on a stone, as that's all they are un-earthing in their safe little enclosure.
I have a first aid box for the horses, should I just put some 'purple spray' on it do you think?
thanks in advance

I've had that with a dog - soak in a solution of epsoms salts in warm (as warm as the animal will tolerate) water - if you can get him/her to stand in it. If it's jutting out at right angles you may have to pull it back to the leg and keep it there by some method - easier with a dog (bandage) than a pig.

Thank you 8)
I was in the vets this morning with one of the dogs having his stitches out and asked the vet. She thought the 'purple spray' would be ok, but I'll see if hubby can get it soaked in epsom salts too.
