...... have had to remove a panel of the hen house roof, clamber up on to the roof squeeze my rotund body into a gap that twiggy would have struggled with in order to jamb myself between the hen house wall and Digby's very well rounded bum.
This was after nearly 2 hours of failed attempts to coax him out with favourite treats such as banana and tinned peaches, he was replete with eggs and hen food.
I wriggled myself between the wall and Digby's bum in order to force him out by leaning against the hen house wall and pushing my knees into his rear end. Meantime OH shouted encouragement from the hen house entrance. It was only when I slid down the wall and in the confined space couldnt avoid treading on his tail that Digby took umbrage and shot out of the hen house knocking OH down in the process. Tin of peaches shot into the air and peaches flew out. Digby quite enjoyed the peaches. OH has returned the roof panel. Digby has gone to bed now. Bless him ::)

and when will you write the book of the pigs adventures???
-
;D ;D ;D ;D
I love Digby!
Maybe you need to be armed with a sharp stick... so you can poke him gently out of mischief!! :pig:
-
Arh, sounds like the making of one of those animal Disney films, maybe you should film some antics and put them on tin ter net!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
don't you just love your animals making you act and look silly, if only they could write about us ;D
-
Were it to be a film who would play me? I imagine Julia Roberts but feel Julie Waters would be closer to the mark (although still a definite huge improvement on the original). Digby of course would play himself, unless Hilary gets in on the act. :D :D :D :D
Its nice to be able to come on here and let off steam, sometimes that pig comes very close to the s@u$age word. :D

;D ;D ;D ;D

I love to hear about Digby and Hilary. Now have a pic in my mind, bless him he sounds like Olly we say she is Tim nice but dim! I second Bloomer on the book front. ;D ;D ;D

Funny you should say that Mandy because the !"£"£! has done it again!. He is stretched out, nose in the sun, grunting peacefully at the hens who want in to lay eggs. Well he is out of luck as we have run out of tinned peaches. Looks like the hens might be camping in the barn tonight. Will give the fox one hell of a shock if she tries visiting the hen house this evening!

In spite of these antics (or perhaps because of them) I'm tempted to get pigs of some sort myself; but I've only just got the grass established.
Back on topic for this post; I spent this morning cleaning crusty chicken poo off hen bums, having finally decided it wouldn't come off without my help - lovely job - NOT.

Cut the grass, watering the garden, just used the last of my nettle fertiliser and poo picking and many other boring mundane jobs.
(I used to get paid for s@@@ shovelling! amongst other things)
HM think you should video Digby and post, do the eggs have any affect on him?
-
today i mainly mowed grass
and took a lot of stuff to the tip!!!
-
HM your piggie posts always bring a smile to my face - I can see the picture now ;) ;D ;D ;D
Aren't our little beasties such a source of joy  :pig:
-
Life would certainly be boring without them! :D :pig:
-
I wouldnt be without him. Even though when he finally came back indoors he unhooked the door off its hinges just to be irritating.
Mab pigs are terrific, dont let me put you off, best thing I ever did having Hilary (and Digby)
The video would be good if I could find it. The camera is always in the wrong place when I need it. ;D
-
Digby sound just like our BG (Big Gerry) & Delia who do what they want when they want not when i want or need and normally with a mouthful of pig abuse for good measure. Wish i could translate what they say but i'm sure it sometimes ends in off! ;D
Would loved to have seen the fox pop his head in the hen house and find Digby, pity he decided he wanted his own bed.
Mandy :pig:

I think pigs are just IT. Such fantastic personalities. Any pictures of BG and Delia (wonderful names) ?
-
Wish i could translate what they say but i'm sure it sometimes ends in off! ;D
;D One of our litttl'uns is known as "Grump" - she's always chuntering in the most grumbley way you can imagine! And her black spots over her face look quite like a frown too! her mum always has a cheerful grunt....
-
They really do have great personalities. Although that does make it harder to send them off at the end. :'(

HM "They really do have great personalities. Although that does make it harder to send them off at the end."

It was at Pateley Bridge near Harrogate for the Young Farmers extravaganza in June/July, Big D was an exhibit for North Yorkshire Smallholders and she was also a "guess the weight of her" competition (hence us knowing what she weighs! 317kg!! :o) to raise funds.
She was a bugger to load at the end as she'd been spoiled all day with digestive biscuits & ice-cream, we had to get a tub of fruit salad from a neaby catering truck (god knows what DEFRA would have made of that one!!)to get her back up the ramp to go home and the help of 5 strapping young farmers!!! ;D
Mandy :pig:
-
Oh I WANT her. She is absolutely smashing.
-
Lovely pics
HM don't you think you have enough trouble ;D
-
Sigh ..... yes ..... oh would agree with you, but she is gorgeous ....
-
lol agree she is gorgeous
-
This morning she's as grumpy as hell as its raining at last, she refused to come out of her house and had to have her breakfast in bed after booting poor Gerry out into the rain poor lad. After she'd eaten up she fling her trug out the door, stuck her back end out to pee and then went back to bed and is now snoring her head off!! ::)
Let me know where to send her................. ;)
Mandy :pig:
-
She sounds to be the perfect pig, I love her already.
-
Sounds like she could be a related to Hilary! ;D
-
And there was I
thinking praying that she was a one-off ;D
