Thanks Sue, we set ours in Vaseline for storing. These keep for about six months and are used for scrambled and baking, they fry a treat too. My ma used to use Isinglass but I find the Vaseline method easy and quick. I keep meaning to try drying but its a fag. We pickle too and take the jars to "do's" to sell.

Hi there - that's interesting. Do you mean you rub them all over with vaseline to keep the air out? Surely they are not set in pots of vaseline, that would be way to expensive. :o
I have heard about rubbing them over with lard as an old-fashioned method to prolong storage, though have'nt tried it myself.
all the best

Sorry will explain better! Rub any muck of with wire wool or a scour pad. Then smear a film of Vaseline all over and store in egg trays in a dark cool place. We have kept them six months that way with only the odd bad one.
