Title: New proud parents.
Post by: NormandyMary on April 17, 2011, 05:57:44 pm: Last Wednesday, my husband and I went to collect our new baby pygmy boys. They are barely 3 months old, but had been weaned. They have settled in very well indeed and are already eating out of our hands, responding to our voices etc.We have named them Toby and Billy. They are brothers, although Billy is slightly larger than Toby, however he is noticibly more timid.
They are complete timewasters though, Ive done no housework or cooking since we have had them, except for the bare necessities and Im really grateful that the weather has been wonderful allowing us to spend so much time outside getting to know our new little men. I thought that keeping chooks made me soppy, but its nothing compared to this! Am I alone or is anyone else like this?

Post by: Roxy on April 18, 2011, 12:16:58 am: I am bottle feeding Finlay one of our pygmy kids .....he is full of mischief. Thats my excuse for standing watching him - trying to stop his next stunt.

Today he jumped on to the hen shed roof - "helped" to fence a paddock ... among other things.

Don't be misled by their size as they can jump fences as good as the big goats. And are small enough to squeeze underneath too if they want.

Post by: plumseverywhere on April 18, 2011, 02:13:24 pm: Oh I love my goats and would spend all day with them if i could!! Looking forward to getting a new nanny this year so that my daughter can keep her own kid from the nanny - the goat love affair has spread to my children too ;)

And I am stealing that theory!! I 'll tell tony that one ;) must admit savannah and reggie do look so much happier when the ponies are out and they can be one big gang, albeit with a fence between.

Im sure that the first few months are so important getting them tame. Both will now eat from our hands, but one of the boys, strangely the slightly bigger of the two, is more timid than his brother, who I just know is going to be a right handful!
I tried the boys with apple twice, just for a little treat but they just turned their noses up. I read that they are supposed to love apple. Their favourite treat is the corn that I give the chooks. I love to hear them crunching it in their tiny mouths..aaaaaahhhhh!
