Hello everyone from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and hello Nick
I am a retired chef in Montreal - I work in marketing but will be moving to live in Belize this year, a small English-speaking country on the Caribbean Sea just south of Mexico. I have raised turkeys, ducks, geese and chickens for many years and (obviously) love to cook. I plan to teach school in Belize and also to raise more turkeys, ideal to fill up the freezer and amuse the heart. I used to have a five acre property where my turkeys roamed free. New obstacles will face me in Belize such as snakes, vampire bats (they like to bite birds, not people) so I am ready for adventure! Alone!!

Perhaps you'll meet a nice Batman down there - or a Batwoman??? :o Good luck with the move and welcome to TAS from Bonnie Scotland.

Hello & welcome,
I'm sure the weather in Belize will be better than here in Scotland (and Canadian winters will be quickly forgotten) not so sure if I welcome the thought of your new exotic neighbours, I might moan about Scottish weather but at least don't have to worry about blood sucking bats ! Are you sure it's just birds they like to eat ? I think I remember seeing something on TV that showed bats feeding off of cows too, but knowing the things my hubby watches it might have been hollywood fiction!
All the best of luck with it & keep us posted !

Hi and welcome.
I'd run the risk of bats for a bit of heat, I think.
