Hi All.
We sadly lost our 3 mallard x's to the fox at the end of last summer and I'd like to get some more not that we have declared war in terms of fencing and lamping!
We habe a lovely old duck house which will comfortably fit 3-4 (i think it's meant for 8 but I can't see how they'd ever fit in?!). Last year was our first year keeping ducks and they were really messy in their house! They had straw but I was wondering if they could have shavings? I already have a lot for the piglets and horses and it strikes me that it'd be 100 times easier to clean them out twice a week! :&> :)

i have my geese on shavings, they never poo in their house, i just rake it through and top it up now and then.

What well trained ducks you have! I clean mine out at least three times a week even in bone dry weather. I've tried straw and shavings and find no difference. Makes lovely compost though ;)

That would be a lot easier I think. I'll see how we go ... we have a never ending supply of shavings at all times. I hope we might get treated to some eggs this time! :) :&>
