Title: Tentative Hello from West Norfolk
Post by: norfolk newbies on January 20, 2009, 12:24:09 pm
Hello to you all
Like many others we have been lurking for a while. We have been dreaming for 5+years, trying to  move to places with land, but have been thwarted by various circumstances. We are lucky in that we have large back garden with lots of fruit and veg and 14 chooks of various age and breeds.  Having decided to give up moving for a while we have just bought a 6 acre field  (stubble) in next village. It has no fencing (2 ditches and 2 unkept hedges), no grazing, no water and not brilliant access, but it is a start!!. Currently on steep learning curve re pasture and fencing. Once this done hoping for pigs, geese and of course more hens.

We love TAS, the chat and all  the advice: I am hoping to drain you all of any pertinent info. in the near future....
from
Jo,Martin, our 2 girls and our mad flattie Barney ( chooks have names but too many to go into!)

Hi and welcome.

The 6 acres sounds like a brilliant blank canvas - I'm so envious. You have room for a cow...

Thanks Rosemary for your welcome
Do not get too green about the land, it is at sea level and next to a 'relief channel' and as such is on the flood plain. We would much rather be in Scotland ( there is an awful lot of sky around here and we prefer mountains!)
Although I would dearly love to have Red Poll, I cannot see that they would enjoy it overmuch. Cows do not have webbed feet do they?
THe land is not ideal ( takes 10 mins in 4x4 to get there) but it is a start...
