Title: Epic needs a new home
Post by: woollyval on April 08, 2011, 10:21:39 pm
Please please be kind over this post as I am trying to help a dog, not get my head blown off....
Right....Epic is a basset hound mixed with a bit of beagle. He used to be a hunting dog with a pack of bassets but when they gave up he and his sister were going to be put down. So......a friend of mine rescued him last year and he has since been microchipped and castrated. He desperately needs a new home where he is either one of a pack (ie not an only dog) or he can have the constant companionship of a human.
I have met him and he is a really nice dog.......he has one problem and that is a deformed paw.....but it does not slow him down or anything.......just means no one will give him a home.

Please pm me if you would like his details and are serious.

He looks lovely!  Have you tried putting him on Facebook or Twitter?  He's been lucky so far, I'm sure his luck will stay with him and he'll find a lovely forever home.

Aww,he is adorable, :)Wish I could offer him a home, but think 6 (4 rescues) is probably quite enough :P I hope he finds a lovely new home.

Where are you Woollyshepherd?

Can you pm me a few more details please? What he used to hunt; how old he is; if his foot has caused any problems such as arthritis; if he is known to be good with livestock/cats?

Sorry for question time. My OH wants to add to our pack. I'm dead set against him buying a pup but would be open to rehoming for the right dog  :)

He is 3, in Devon,  used to hunt with a pack of bassets, as far as I knoiw is fine with livestock and cats but cannot guarentee ANY dog to be fine with these. He is lovely with kids. He is not lame and his leg has no visible arthritis but no idea what he will be like in 6 years time.....would you like me to pm the contact phone number for his carer?

Was he used for rabbits do you know? My OH is in Yorkshire with work until tomorrow morning but I will send him an email now. Would be very interedted to know if he has ever been around ferrets at all ... doesn't matter if not.

To my OH, our dogs are working dogs who are at peak physical fitness.  :dog:

To me they are my hairy dribbly babies who lie in front of the fire and have their own stews cooked in the winter! ;)

Great, thanks Loosey.  I do hope he finds a good home.

He reminds me so much of my other basset hound who died a couple of years ago.  She had a similar foot, and her colouring was just the same.
