Title: ....how are you?
Post by: little blue on April 08, 2011, 09:10:34 pm
I'm sat here with my foot up having slipped & twisted my ankle outside today.... and I just wondered about Helencus & her broken ankle!

I know why I fell - drugged up due to tooth/ear/neck ache after breaking yet another tooth because of night-time teeth grinding, made worse by management induced stress at work!

I hope all of you with worse health & bigger problems than I are feeling more upbeat as Spring is bursting into bloom (apologies to hay fever sufferers  ;) ) and wish you all well for the future
 :)      :)

Oh dear poor you.   :'(  Hope it's not too sore.  I have RSi - self inflicted with being on this damned pc too much, and am struggling to use the mouse with my left hand.  Have taken ibuprofen but it's still very painful and pins and needles up my hand and arm.  But you are right, it has been a lovely day today, with even better expected tomorrow.  Hope the forecasters have got it right!

Oh poor you.  Hope your ankle recovers quickly.  Its very painful isn't it.  I am still struggling with my finger that was discolated, its a lot better but still swollen at the knuckle, and soon hurts if I lift something, or move the finger too quickly, but I am grateful its as good as it is.  At least I can use it.

Oh little blue I sooooo sympathise. It's horrible not being able to walk and the worst part is dealing with it psychologically  even when you know it's not forever it's very depressing. However .. You have to be as positive as possible.. It's short term.. It will heal and you will be better soon and back to your animals and a normal life.
Just take it easy keep your weight off it and take your pain killers. Time will pass it will heal and you'll be ok. Try to stay busy reading on the net watching TV anything to keep you occupied .
My cast comes off Tuesday .. It's nearly 6 weeks since I broke my ankle and I feel like it's been forever but it's not really that long.. I know I won't be back to normal for several weeks yet but counting the days til the pot is off then it's crutches and a support boot for at least 2 weeks after.
So whilst it's crap and it truly is crap to be unable to walk thank god I will be done with the wheelchair next week.. Just think how the hell would you deal with it full time.. Doesn't bear thinking about I admire anyone who has to cope with it.
Keep smiling little blue it's gonna be better soon truly.

hey, I'm alright folks!  It's really not that bad, but like Helen says, makes you think how much worse it could be. I've been outside most of the day, helping renovate the chicken housing from my chair!

Helen, thats a "step" in the right direction (!) (sorry!) best wishes for a speedy road back to normal - just take it easy.

what a positive bunch we all are...  :D

Today was a great day LB I was walking fine with crutches so I know I'm going to be almost good as new in a few weeks.. Plus the sun was shining and I got all my veg seedlings which are very late potted on..
So we are a positive bunch :-))

It's a bit difficult to dig with a gammy arm(RSI - self inflicted and here I am on here again, but I'm on left handed mouse duty now  ;) ), so I only got 5 fruit bushes planted against the fence. But replanted 6 tom plugs into big pots, got a few seeds in trays in the conservatory.  So, positive thinking here too.  Well done, girls!

I am making a slow recovery from a complete hysterecctomy opp three weeks ago. Off work for two or three months I imagine. I am enjoying the sunshine and trying not to get frustrated with all the things that I would normaly lift without thinking. My neighbours and family have been really supportive helping with hoovering, cooking, childcare, driving and helping to get feed and water out to the animals. On the plus side I have been able to sit back and enjoy the piglets in the mud bath, the chicks hatching and lambs enjoying this balmy spring weather. The minus is the setbacks to my recovery from doing too much too soon, or daft things like trying to catch falling children, that will be the built in kamikaze auto pilot! Also minus is sneezing my new muffin top.

Hye Raven, been there done that, got the hysterical-rectum-T-shirt !! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Best thing EVER, opting for that op. Once you get over the surgery you will feel great! I think all women should get the Op as soon as the 'tackle' is redundant!! LOL
all the best, do take care of your wounds.... and your abdonimal muscles, you need them for the rest of your days  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Broken bones !!!
I will push my luck and say that at the moment , I don't have any actually broken  !!
However !! over the years I have broken just about every bone that is possible to break.
I had a m/bike smash (well a few actually) , and broke both ankles , both wrists , both collar bones , both cheek bones ,jaw, left leg lower , right leg upper ,fractured pelvis , and fractured skull twice.
I also had a mahoosive car smash in '83 , in which I crushed : 2 vertebrae in my neck , 3 in my back and twisted the spine between the two places . I also broke both collar bones , my sternum , most of my ribs , my shoulder blade , both wrists , every bone in my right hand plus split it in half like a bun !! Both cheek bones smashed and shifted back 1/4" , both sides of my jaw ,my nose and ripped off 1/2 my face ( luckily they stitched it back on ok !!! lol) .I also broke my pelvis both sides , fractured both thighs the left knee and both ankles . My skull was also smashed to bits and actually popped open fully at the top/back .
Since then I have had the ligament pop in my left knee 3 or 4 times , and dislocated god knows how many joints .
I now go very careful !!! I walk very steadily as bits are likely to start dropping off !!!
I suffer terrible vertigo , due the the head injury , and I have an on/off limp that drives me potty. I have  permanent double vision , some days worse than others, and I get severe headaches also due to the head injury .
I hate winter , as every bone in my body screams out in agony and I detest ice , as sods law, I will go arse over tit on ANY that is about . I don't bounce anymore ... I just go 'thud' and then the long drawn out moan of agony !!!!!!!!
But on the bright side .. I can still walk , 6 miles+ a day , I can shift most things , although car engines are out  !!! , and I have learnt how to do most things , just in a different way to how I used to do them .
Yep we all get by , and make do and mend . I like to think I can cope with anything ...apart from loud music !!! ::) ;D

cheers

Russ

No more Motorhead for you then Russ!! Thanks for the thumbs up Pikilily, I am sure you are right about it being the start of a better life. Just got to go sooooo sloooooow at the moment. Put out the recycling bins this morning, big mistake, have done bugger all for the rest of the day. Great thing is that my right arm works fine and I can lift a wine glass. Cheers.
