Sorry, posted without introducing myself - very bad form!
I live with my husband in a traditional Welsh stone cottage on our smallholding not too far away from the coast. We moved here about 8 years ago when my husband retired. We have kept a variety of livestock - cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and horses since we married 37 years ago but now mainly concentrate on our Dexters (the curious can see some photos of them on my web site www.alvecotedexters.net (http://www.alvecotedexters.net)).
Old habits die hard, so we fatten a couple of weaners every year on our surplus milk and have recently started again with a few sheep and chickens for eggs. We have a polytunnel, greenhouse, veg garden and orchard so I guess you could say we are now pretty self sufficient here .... and quite busy.

My other half has really took to them. They have just had their hair cut - early I know but you can never get a shearer later on in the year. They have plenty to eat and are quite snug in their sheep shelter.
