I read every single post that you all put on whilst following the saga about my lovely Della. I can't tell you how supportive I found it, and each and every one of you tugged at my heart strings whilst going through the trauma and then the eventual demise. Your lovely words of enouragement and the words reassuring me that I had done all I could (although you always think there must be something else you could have done :( ) were wonderful and made me feel so much better and at the same time brought on floods of tears with your kindness. Still very upset and can't speak to anyone in person about it, but I've had some lovely offers of goats and I just need to pull myself together now and make a decision about what to do next. Hebe (Della's kid from last year) keeps looking over the gate and is obviously a bit puzzled that Mum is no longer there, but she's also happily bouncing around in the sunshine along with her pen mate 'Spring'. Jangalli and Bacchus are oblivious thankfully and so are as noisy and demanding as ever, which is good.
Will post some pics of the kids in a day or two so that you can see the little gang.
Thank you so much again for ALL of your posts and EVERY single word that you put.

Losses like this are very hard... an old cliche I know... but time does put things into perspective.
I am sure you have had some wonderful offers of goats ... can I be added to your list ? I have well bred ANs available (kids) in both female & male.
Don't make any decisions for some time, then one day, suddenly you will know what to do. Has always worked for me and no doubt many others.

Thanks wytsend. As an old farming gent said to me many moons ago when I had to have my first pony put down "If you don't want dead animals, you shouldn't keep live ones". At the time I thought what a horrible thing to say, but when I thought about it a while later I realised that never a truer word was said and I've quoted it to many people over the years since.
I'm actually going to be after another milker as I have 2 goatlings plus a nanny who hopefully is in kid, but not due until late June. If you have a milker going spare......... :)

Yes I do have one.
She has been milk recorded and gained her R110 with superb butterfats.
Give me a ring on 01647 231456 to discuss as soon as possible.

That is the price we all have to pay for the joy and love all our animals give to us. At times like this I was about to say "I do not want ANY animals anymore" BUT I could not live without them either. So make the most of the times you have together and then when the day comes that you have to part, remember the good times. Thinking of you in theis heartbreaking time. And even if you will never forget them, it does get easier with time.
