Title: New orchard

Hello
 we are about to plant a new orchard in Brittany and I wondered if anyone has advice to offer. We have some trees in containers already to plant - Plums:Queen Victoria Plum,Quetshe d'Alsace. Apples: Bramley, crab, Royal Gala. A William pear and a Bigarreau Moreau cherry. I'd like to add one or two more and was considering a peach -- what do you think? Also there are two very ancient fruit trees there - we tried to prune one but ended up with pretty much only a trunk left - they didn't produce anything last year and were in bad shape. How close to these is it ok to plant new trees? They don't appear diseased just old and rotten.

The Fruit Expert by Dr.D.G.Hessayon has been the best book ever to help us with any questions.
For some varieties you need 2 trees of the same pollination group or you won't have any fruit (for example if you have only one pear). It's all neatly listed in the book, a great help with establishing a new orchard.
